Bed time

Standard

We had this discussion at lunch yesterday… Where will you kids sleep when you get home??? Mike and I have discussed this subject numerous times, we have read books that have whole chapters on it. To tell you the truth Mike and I can never make up our mind on this, I really think this choice will not be up to us but more so to our children. While there are many parts of the family bed that sound amazing to me like the whole attachment thing and who doesn’t like to wake up to a beautiful baby next to them??? But then again when would Mike and I have alone time if we had 2 kids and 2 dogs in our bedroom??? How would we sleep??? So I can honestly say I have no clue what we will do, I can’t make that choice until the time comes.  One intereasting thing our teacher did say yesterday is some kids just need to hear someone else breathing, since they are used to sleeping with someone else in the room. So if thats the case with our child if all they need is to hear breathing they are in luck I happen to live with the loudest breathing dog known to man kind!!! FIONA!!! I actually have a hard time finding someone to watch the dogs when I go out of town because they both snore loud and they have to sleep with someone. When they stay at my moms they want to sleep with her and she can’t sleep with the snoring but being the good grandma she is she puts up for it for a couple of night if its longer she goes crazy.

Speaking of the dogs last night when Mike took the dogs outside to potty there was a couple walking by with the little boy who had to have been 18 months tops. So Fiona sees them and takes off running strait toward the boy barking, she hoped over the ditch, and runs right up to the little boy and hits him with her paw. That poor little guy let out a blood curdling scream, it was so loud I jumped up and looked out the window to see what was going on.  The parents laughed  and picked him up, they kept saying they didn’t know why he was crying they had big dogs at home. I am sure  Fiona was more scary then the dogs they have at home. She weighs close to 75 pounds and stood eye level to the poor kid! I would be surprised if he wasn’t tramatized for life.  He cried the whole time they were outside our house, even being his dads arms did relive his fear the the scary Nona.

I was going to upload a picture but I can’t figure out how to do that either. I guess I am going to have to figure out what is going on with wordpress tomorrow…

Classes

Standard

We had our classes this weekend and it was AMAZING!!! I really went into it not expecting much but we both learned a lot. We had a great teacher who made us think of things we hadn’t really thought of before. We met some amazing people who also are adopting,  out of 9 couples 3 were adopting from Ethiopia. I am very thankful for this experiance it really made both Mike and I that more confidant with our choice of not only adoption but also Ethiopia. There was a family who had been home with their son from Ethiopia 7 weeks that came to speak about their experiance at the end of class today. I think I could have talked to them all night, but I am sure their kids are thankful I didn’t. Thanks again Erica and your family is even more beautiful in person!!!

I am amazed at how tired I am even though we have spent the past two days just sitting down. That being said I can’t seem to figure out how to spell check my post, wordpress decided to change things up a bit. I hope you guys won’t make fun of me too much, I realize I can’t spell at all. I am off to get some R&R

Stupid People

Standard

I always seem to get the stupid comments when we tell people we are adopting. Honestly I had someone ask me if our baby would speak English after I told her we were adopting a infant. I have had people tell me that I should adopt from the US because there is a lot of kids who need homes here. But Mike got my all time favorite comment last week, the person asked Mike where we were adopting from, Mike said Ethiopia and the person said oh a black baby… Well at least they will be good at basketball. That’s not stereotyping at all!!! It irritated Mike a lot, lets just say that person didn’t make a good first impression with Mike.

I successfully got my name changed and it only took a hour so I was afraid for no reason. We went to get our fingerprints and it took only 15 minutes!!! We almost have all of our paper work ready for our homestudy, we are waiting on our 2007 taxes (don’t get me started). I’ve started working on our dossier paperwork. We have been so busy with adoption stuff this past week it makes it  feel more real. Only 3 and a half months before my 25th so I have to be prepared to send in our dossier. We have our classes this weekend with our homestudy agency so that will count as our first 2 visits. I am super excited!!!
