Your not a bad dog

Standard

On Sunday Fiona chewed up one of Mike flip flops. When he found  he started to dicipline her it went something like this “Fiona your not a bad dog, you just made a bad choice”. I started cracking up I knew exactly where he got that line from, our adoption classes.

Now I know we are ready for a baby!!!

My Favorites

Standard

I am so awful if I love something I LOVE it!!! My favorite movie is Breakfast at Tiffanys, I’ve seen it at least 100,000 times. I have even watched it two times in a row before. When I have a new favorite song I play it over an over an over. My favorite song right now is Daughter by Loudon Wainwright III. My favorite store is Brass Heart almost 90% of my clothes are from there.  Do you see my problem when I love something I become obsessed with it!!! Well they just built my favorite restaurant 5 minutes away from where I live… Kona Grill is my favorite place to eat they have pizza, sushi, and the best mashed potatoes so I can get pretty much whatever I am in the mood for. This is so amazing its awful!!! At least we won’t go poor because they have an amazing happy hour. I am seeing how many times we can eat there before mike complains! LOL

Its Done

Standard

My social worker just emailed me our home study its done!!! It turned out wonderful!!! I am so glad to have that step done!!! Now its going to be mailed to the Arizona courts for approval that should take about 3 weeks. Then it will go to USCIS for the I-71H form that is taking 6-8 weeks. So we can’t send our dossier in until the end of August beginning of September. I am so disappointed that I didn’t meet the deadline I set for myself but I have faith I know we will get the little girt we were meant to have!

Okay so I am looking for a new camera since I know I will be taking millions of pictures in the very near future!!! So I am thinking about getting the Nikon D40. Does anyone have a opinion on a wonderful camera?

Prayer

Standard

There has been many times in this adoption where I have had to stop and pray. Our decision to switch from Vietnam to Ethiopia came after a lot of prayer. Unfortunately all my fears about Vietnam adoption have come true. http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2008/04/30/2232055.htm. My heart hurts for those children and the families affected by this, I pray for them. I hope this situation will get fixed soon, Mike and I still plan to adopt from Vietnam one day.

This has been weighing on my heart for the past couple of weeks. I sent out a email to all my close friends and family but I didn’t have time to put this on our blog. http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/africa/06/09/ethiopia.hunger.ap/index.html?iref=newssearch. The people of Ethiopia have been in my thoughts and prayers.

The Accidental Adoption

Standard

Wife: Honey, sit down. I have some news for you.

Husband: What is it?

Wife: Well, I don’t know how to say this, so I’ll just come out with it. I went out to the mailbox today and . . . well, we got an I-171H.

Husband: A what?!?! An U.S. Immigration I-171H adoption approval form?! As in, we’re going to have another baby?!?

Wife: It looks that way.

Husband: But how? We’ve been so careful! I put away all the blank I-600A forms. Didn’t you hide our home-study?

Wife: Of course I did. But don’t forget, there was that one night . . .

Husband: What night? (pauses) Ohhh, that night. But it was only once. We were just messing around. I didn’t print clearly. I didn’t even use black ink! (pauses again) But it was kind of fun. (giggles)

Wife: It was, wasn’t it? I’ll never forget how cute you looked getting your fingerprints taken.

Husband: So now we’ve got our I-171H, eh? But that doesn’t always mean you’ll adopt, does it? I mean, shouldn’t you see the agency or something, make sure everything’s okay?

Wife: I already did. I’m five documents along.

Husband: Five documents!

Wife: And they’re all notarized, certified, state sealed and authenticated! There was just one small scare when the agency couldn’t see the notary’s middle initial, but it showed up just fine under the magnifying glass.

Husband: Thank goodness! And you, honey? Are you feeling okay?

Wife: I’m feeling fine. As long as I know you’re happy about this.

Husband: Happy? I’m thrilled! It’s always a shock at first when something like this happens, but of course I’m happy.

Thank you

So I have been trying to get our dossier paperwork done and I got a little overwhelmed. I actually freaked out!  So I asked Mike to help me, well I actually wrote a list of things I needed help with. Well the list sat on the table for over a week before I explained to Mike if he isn’t going to help me do any of the paper work then I am going to name the baby whatever I want. Well My wonderful husband got the whole list done in one day! I guess the threat of me naming the baby Lulu, Lucy, Lola, or Carly got to him. Those are just a few of the names I love that Mike hates.

Thank you my wonderful husband for helping me!!! I love you an I promise I will let you help me pick a name out!

I love you!
